“If you love what you do, how can you call it work …”
Our Physio Team
Physiotherapist and Pilates Instructor
On a personal level, I love being in nature – walking at Sewe-damme, in the mountains, along the beach or just working in my garden! I also love cooking and spoiling my family and friends with good food and wine, and just celebrating friendship and life! And I also try to “travel light”, to live and let live…. I really thank God for my life’s journey, for all the good and the bad that have moulded me in the person and physio I am today ….. for the peace to deeply know that God is good, and God is in control…….
“It is not what you’re eating…. It’s what’s eating you….”
I have been working at Annaphysios for 28 years, so I suppose that makes me an antique….. but I am not yet rusty!!!
I have a light-hearted and humorous approach to life and cares deeply for the well-being of my patients. No treatment seems complete without a good laugh.
I have a special interest in lower back pain & SIJ dysfunction, TMJ problems as well as headaches.
In my free time, I enjoy travelling and exploring nature and attempts golf as often as possible.
I am here to assist you on your road to recovery.
“Everyone you meet is fighting a battle that you know nothing about, be kind…always”
I am a fun-loving and driven person. I always have time for a chat and enjoy helping others. Sharing the knowledge I gathered by being a physio for 34 years, is one of my greatest passions.
During weekends you’ll find me in my vegetable garden, enjoying nature. My children and grandchildren are my pride and joy!
“only fake flowers are flawless”
I have been working at Anna physiotherapist for five years now and feel privilege to be able to work with such an amazing and dynamic team of people who started to feel like family.
In my free time I love being active and spending time with my husband, family and dogs.
I’m passionate about sports injuries and rehabilitation as well as treating of chronic pain patients. The highlight of my job is making a difference and experience the improvement in the quality of their lives.
“Everything we hear is an opinion, not a fact. Everything we see is a perspective, not the truth”
Mikal du Plooy
I believe that happiness and growth is available to everybody, and you should not feel limited by your physical capabilities. I consider myself fortunate to work as a physiotherapist who can assist people on their journey to a better quality of life. What I love most about physiotherapy is the people that you get to connect with, and the stories told on the physio beds – each person has his own story and to be a part of somebody’s journey, no matter how small or big, is a privilege.
Trying to describe yourself is like biting your own teeth – Allan Watts
I have been practicing as a physiotherapist for almost 2 years now. I started pursuing a career in physiotherapy due to my love for helping people, always going out of my way to assist wherever and whomever I can. But I also like to challenge normal belief systems and thoughts, which more than often, plays a big part in holding us back not to reach our full potential.
I am passionate about building relationships with my patients and walking the road with them. I believe that you must consider the whole body, mind and soul when treating a patient and teach them to become the best version of themselves.
“Proverbs 16:9 – A man’s heart plans his way, But the Lord directs his steps.”
Elma van Tonder
I started my physiotherapy journey after a netball injury and had to go for physiotherapy and rehabilitation. I immediately told my mom, “this looks like an amazing job!”. Eight years later I got my degree and have been loving it ever since.
Some of my core values include relationships and companionship. As a Physiotherapist I get to live out these values by helping my patients through the hard times and give them hope. This feeds my passion for neuro-rehabilitation, as I strive to always “lift” their spirit, to “walk” the extra mile with them, but also challenge them as far as possible while “standing” by their side on their road to a better quality life.
“For I know the plans I have for you declares the Lord” – Jer 29:11. We might not always understand the journey, but He knows our destination.
As a sports fanatic, I have always been interested in the performance and function of the human body. Although, I enjoy motivating athletes to reach their full potential, my love for physiotherapy extends far beyond sports injuries. Neurology, pediatrics and ICU is what makes me tick. Education, caring and building relationships continues to inspire me.
I finished my community service in 2020. Starting my physiotherapy career during a pandemic taught me to keep going, stay calm and support others.
For me, nature has always been a big part of my life, so in my down time you will most likely find me outside on a run, gardening or helping out on the farm.
“The secret to life is finding the right balance to everything you do”
I am one of the newly added Physiotherapists at the practice – all the way from Cape Town! After completing my year of community service in Kimberley in 2020, I find myself now in the fountain of flowers, Bloemfontein.
I have a special interest in neuro-physiotherapy, although I am keen in ever-growing with all aspects of my career as I enjoy the process of learning. I enjoy collaborating with my patients, always providing patient-centred care and to help them get back to enjoying the activities they love. Although I am soft spoken, I always listen intently so that I can help you completely.
Being surrounded by the big team here at Anna Physios, it really makes the workplace feel vibrant and warm, making Bloemfontein feel like home away from home.
“There are no mistakes, only opportunities”
I qualified in 1992 as a physiotherapist. In the past 30 years I have learned so much about our profession and about people.
I believe that we can have a truly positive influence in our patients’ lives.
Long hours of supporting my children next to the astro, have taught me that sport injuries are unique. The injury does not only affect the patient, but the whole team.
With the information and exercises that we provide even to our Women’s Health patients, we can help them to improve their quality of life.
My passion is to treat every patient with respect.
“Make memories that will last a lifetime”
It’s so hard to explain to somebody else who you are. Let me try…
I am Marianne Botha, a physiotherapist, Pilates instructor, mom of 4, bad cook, procrastinator and adventurous.
I left the Physiotherapy field for 10 years – one of my big mistakes in life. Life changed for me, for the better, since my return to physio in 2016. What a privilege to be in a position where you can help people to have less pain, to start exercising and enjoying it, to move better, and to understand the human brain’s function in pain.
I love my job, but I would love it even more if admin wasn’t a part of it.
